I am now a full-fledged doctor and I am currently working as one, in a nearby hospital. How have you been? As continuation from our first Korean Reading Exercise , I would like to present to you another batch of Korean words that you can try practicing on! Are you ready to practice your Korean? New Year, and New Resolutions

Before all else, I would like to greet each and everyone a Happy New Year! :) Well, 2014 just left us with what I call a "roller coaster" of events, in which there are time when we have felt that we are on top, and times in which we were in the lowest of our lives. Well, what I can say is that these events have formed us to our "self: that enters 2015, preparing us for bigger and better challenges, and these things are really destined to happen to us, not just mere coincidences, but experiences that may make us better persons. Farewell, Naruto!

It was in my college years that I have started watching Naruto, as it was aired in a TV channel here in our country. It was kind of childish, yeah, to watch anime, but still, because of the different lessons that I have gained in this anime series, I defied all stereotypes and continued watching. I remember that the first episode that I saw was from Naruto Shippuden, the second installment to the series, and it's kinda difficult to understand at first because it's highly related to the first installment. Curious of what has happened before Shippuden, I read the manga, and what seemed to be a "curiosity" continuously transformed to a liking, and my reading continued - week per week, a new chapter was being released, bringing additional excitement with every chapter they have released. I don't cry when it comes to movies. There are movies that can influence my feelings, tingle my senses, and make me feel like crying, but I never have shed tears for those movies. Maybe it's because I have a heart made of stone (maybe not!), or they just can't bring that "pinch in the heart" than can make you break down and make your tears fall. I thought it would stay like that forever. But I was wrong.

Good day, my dear readers! It has been so long since I have written something about Korea here, and that's because of my busy schedule upon entering school again. However, it's our vacation these coming two months, and your writer is here to give you a bit of what Korea can offer! Before you start this writing exercise, be sure to read this post on how to Learn Korean in less than 15 minutes.  This article can help you read and write Korean, for less than a day, and if given much concentration and dedication, for just less than fifteen minutes. Just remember that learning Korean is not that hard, you just have to give your time and your patience, for learning a new language might just be piece of cake!

I can still remember when I watched the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha", which features a poor girl who later on grew up to be one of the most celebrated and beautiful geisha in Ancient Japan. Who would miss that pristine face, a face that (again) might have launched a thousand ships? With an angelic face like the one below, boy, who wouldn't fall in love with that woman? Well, basically, I've been experiencing a really hectic schedule, and everything, I think, is not going according to plan. I've been busy that I'm forgetting to write here (and hoping someone waits for me to do so, :D). We are now in a very modern world, and we are overwhelmed with too much things to think of. Students now have more things to learn, workers now have too much to work on, and everything else. Everything gets complicated and hard that they already give us a lot of stress to deal with. Moreover, illnesses and sorts are one of the things that puts more stress to some. And now, because of these stresses that we feel, some people just can't take it, and decided to end it all.

Pinoy Snacks, anyone?

I have shared to you my experience on teaching Koreans, right? Being their teacher for quite a while, I have also discovered some things that my Korean students like, as well as I use these snacks to reinforce their learning. These snacks will definitely awaken their sleeping bodies. Literally. Whenever they are losing interest in the topic being taught, just say the keywords "I will give ______ to those who can get the highest score in our exam later!", and these sleepy student will be attentive at an instant. Satisfaction guaranteed.

"I don't like Koreans. I just don't." This is a statement that I made before, after hearing from people that they like K-pop, as well as K-dramas and such. Years ago, the K-wave has been felt all over the world, with several songs, movies, and series being widespread all over our country, the Philippines. Actually, this hype has been started with a Korean, Sandara Park, has won a Philippine Talent Show, Star Circle Quest. This bubbly lady, also known as Krung-krung, has melted some of Filipinos' hearts with her charm. After some time, she went back to Korea, and eventually joined a K-pop group, the 2NE1.

As I have studied the history of both countries, I have been well aware of the dispute between North Korea and South Korea. The two countries have been forced to become enemies, though they are once a very united country. The other warring the other, and the other defending from attacks of another. We have known South Korea for so long. We can all see that the country is a peaceful one, and has been open to the world with everything that it could share. It was always tagged as the "Nice Korea" for it is very nice to its people and to foreigners.

What's your Korean name?

There are several websites and Facebook applications that give you your "Korean name", just input your real name, and after a click, "ta-da", your instant Korean name. However, click the button again, and you are given another set of a Korean name. Quite intriguing, isn't it? If you will ask me, getting a Korean name isn't easy as clicking a button. As compared to English names or Filipino names, they also need to be thought of carefully, in order for you to get the name you wanted for your child. These names may determine their future, and possibly how they will be treated in the future. Imagine yourself named as Crap Smith, would you be happy with that? Of course, no. That's why names should be thought of carefully before giving it to your child.

Yoboseyo? :D I just called some of my students yesterday, to know whether they're OK or not. They did not recognize me at first, but after some introduction, they knew who I am! And, trying to talk to them in Korean, I think they have understood me! Hehe.. A nice experience! I told one of my students (in Korean), "If I go to Korea, I will live in your house. OK?" He said.. "Ppali wayo." ("Come quickly!") A nice student, indeed. :D It's really nice having some conversations like this. I miss my students, and I miss teaching them. T_T FYI: If you're calling from the Philippines to someone in South Korea, you just need to key in:   00 82 10****-****.  Some international calling promos are available in some mobile networks, in very affordable prices!
